“Yokai Heaven Japan!” by Toshinobu Yasumura, the director of the Hokusai-kan museum, who is familiar with the “Anything Appraisal team” extremely popular Japanese TV program.

Exhibitions about Japanese Yokai are also held in foreign countries.

Especially the exhibition named “Japan Supernatural” held in 2019 at the NSW State Museum in Australia had been well received.

This exhibition introduces Japanese Yokai culture from Muromachi era to the present day, and the culture was recognized as attractive to art fans in Western countries.

In Japan, the Yokai that appear in Rakugo and Kodan storytelling are usually spoken on hot summer nights.

However, at this time when the excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has subsided, while the heat is still lingering, it would be fun to listen carefully to Professor Yasumura, a leading figure in Japanese art and these Yokai world.

Learn the world of Yokai that are not only scary but sometimes very cute.
